Special Education School
Chaddock's private special education school serves youth living on Chaddock's campus as well as community youth who have not experienced success in a traditional public school classroom. Students attending Chaddock's school must have a BD, LD, EMH, or other health-impaired special education label and be referred by their home school district.
The school is North Central Accredited and its curriculum is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. In each classroom, a certified special education teacher and a para-professional work directly with no more than 10 students providing individualized instruction in math, English, science, history, physical education, as well as optional courses in computers, art and shop. The school incorporates quality school concepts throughout its curriculum, which is based on the demonstration of skill comprehension. As students experience success, they may be gradually mainstreamed back into their home school district; or, when in the best interest of the student, all coursework may be completed and a diploma conferred by Chaddock's school.
Based on guardianship of the referred student, all or a portion of the cost of sending a student to Chaddock's special education school will be reimbursed to the home school district by the Illinois State Board of Education. The student's home school district is responsible for transportation, unless the student resides on Chaddock's campus. Chaddock's school follows the schedule of Quincy Public Schools, District 172.
