Spiritual Awareness
From weekly chapel services to opportunities to participate in Teens Encounter Christ weekends, young people at Chaddock learn the importance of spiritual development in their daily lives. Through these personal experiences the Spiritual Awareness and Development Program strives to show students how spiritual needs are an integral part of the basic needs of an individual.

Chaddock has a long heritage with the United Methodist Church. Agency staff, including a full-time chaplain, take every opportunity to offer unconditional love to the children and families who may have struggled extensively with their own faith. In trying to overcome the issues that brought them to Chaddock in the first place, students often struggle with concepts of good and evil. They need to hear God's promise of forgiveness and grace.

The student choir, spiritual options group and service learning are natural avenues for students to actualize their living faith and to experience the joys of loving one another. Helping with the local Head Start program, assisting with Meals on Wheels for homebound senior citizens and participation in Habitat for Humanity are some of the many practical ways Chaddock students realize their potential as loving, caring people. Several staff members start their day before school in prayer and faith sharing to strengthen their commitment to provide care for these precious children of God.

Practical experiences are just one way students learn to apply their developing faith. With the help of the chaplain, they can begin to incorporate spiritual values into everyday issues -- such as improving their self-concept, dating and sexuality, abuse, death, and improving family relationships. Many times, upon accepting and exploring their spiritual needs, students can begin a journey of growth.
