Foster Care

Foster Care Services
Three levels of foster care are supported through the Chaddock Child and Family Center. Chaddock provides all training, Illinois foster parent licensing and 24-hour-a day support. Payments for foster parenting vary depending on the level of care provided, and all payments are tax-exempt.

  • Relative Foster Care allows children who have previously been determined to be abused and/or neglected to be placed in the home of a relative.
  • Regular Foster Care serves children who have been determined to be either abused and/or neglected, but who do not have appropriate relatives with whom the placement could be made.
  • Specialized Foster Care is designed for children who have significantly troubling behaviors, may have had multiple prior placements, and do not currently have a guardian capable of dealing with the child's behaviors. Young people appropriate for such a placement have troubling behaviors such as ADHD, oppositional behaviors or difficulty developing attachments.

Extensive training, provided free of charge, is required prior to licensing for all levels of care. Annual continuing education is also required to enhance foster parents' skills.
