Trauma Initiative

Chaddock Trauma Initiative
The purpose of the Chaddock Trauma Initiative (CTI) is to provide specialized treatment services to children and adolescents (0 to 19) who have experienced at least one type of trauma, and who live within 75 miles of Quincy, Illinois. Chaddock’s expert treatment can benefit children who have experienced traumatic events, including:
  • Death or loss of a loved one
  • Witnessing domestic violence
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Bullying
  • Neglect
  • Life-threatening Natural Disasters
  • Life-threatening Illnesses
  • Serious Automobile Accidents
  • Living in Harsh Environments
  • Abandonment
Please contact the Chaddock Trauma Initiative if you find that your child has difficulty sleeping; lack of appetite; anger; withdrawal; nervousness; bedwetting; difficulty paying attention; intrusive memories; or is refusing to go to school.

Individual, group and family therapy services are available. The initiative focuses on providing training for parents, guardians, foster parents, educators and professionals.

Many more children experience significant stress and trauma than receive necessary treatment for it. Therefore, using schools and other caring settings, the Chaddock Trauma Initiative will specifically focus on treating traumatic stress using methods that evidence has shown to be highly effective.

Assessments will be administered to each child or adolescent referred to Chaddock prior to and at the conclusion of treatment. Assessments will also be administered every 12 weeks during treatment utilizing the following Evidence-Based Practices (EBP’s):
  • Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
In 2008, Chaddock won a competitive federal grant and became a member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), whose mission is to improve the quality, effectiveness and availability of services for children and families who experience traumatic events. The NCTSN is a collaboration of more than 70 academic, clinical and community service centers, including UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Duke University Medical Center, which co-direct the Network through the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress.
